Wedding Flowers and Bridal Bouquet

Bouquets were first used and consisted of herbs and roots to ward off evil spirits. After that every bride need carried a bunch of fragrant herbs and flowers or they used the flowers to adorn their hair on their wedding day. When the soap and deodorant didn’t appear, the brides added the fragrant flowers to their bouquet to help disguise body odors.

Every flower has its own meaning and emotions. For instance, Orange Blossoms signify purity and chastity which is always associated with weddings. Also there are many kinds of the flowers which have the different significant and also very popular for the wedding, such as the roses symbolize love, carnations represent fidelity and love, ivy is symbolic of never-ending love and violets, which stand for faithfulness etc. also there are some flowers are avoided of the wedding, such as peonies represent shame, yellow hyacinth symbolizes jealousy, hydrangea symbolizes heartlessness etc.

However, people from different regions, they will choose different flowers for their wedding. Also there are different meanings of the same flower for them. For example, people often think the lilies symbolize virtue, but other people think it is unlucky, because these people often associated with death. Also the same flower has the different meaning in different countries, such as the marigolds symbolize cruelty in love and grief, but in India, they represent luck.

Also in the wedding, every bride will toss their bouquet to her bridesmaids and other guests who don’t married, and who will catch it mean that she is the next one present to marry.

Every groom also has their flower in their wedding. They often adorn the flower on their lapel, which is should be matches the bride’s bouquet. Also this tradition should date back to the medieval times, in that time the knights would perform in tournaments, to showed his affection for his wife, he should wear something in his lady’s color such as a scarf, feather or flower.
