Deciding Decisions: The Wedding Guest List
You’ve got big ideas and a big heart for your wedding. However, when you have a budget, it is not reasonable to invite every single person you know to your wedding. So who should be in that wedding guest list of yours? Note that throughout this article, “you” will be used in place of you and your soon-to-be spouse.
Beginning with the most important people to invite, you would first want to include your immediate family members, consisting of parents and siblings. You can then move up the tree and invite other family members such as grandparents, uncle, aunties, and cousins.
You should also extend your wedding invites to those who mean a lot to your life. These people would be family to you, just without blood relations. Do not forget to invite their partners into the wedding guest list as well, as they you would want the people that matter to you have the people that matter to them, too.
Next, you can consider those whom are people who have played some role in your life that has bring you happiness, and will continue bringing you happiness in the future. They can be your next-door neighbor whom you have always played with as a kid, or your colleagues whom you share cups of tea in the pantry during breaks. Regardless of who they are, it is the good memories that you want to bring along to your wedding.
Although it is not necessary, you can also make people whom have inspired or helped you live to be the person you are now as part of your wedding invites. They could be your teachers whom encouraged you to do better when you failed, a coach who has helped you get back onto your feet when you were down, or even a doctor who saved you from an illness. When you invite them, you can share with your partner that this person got you on the track you are today. Some people also invite business partners, so to strengthen the business relationship.
Although those listed here may seem to be people you should invite, remember to take into account people that may make embarrassing scenes. If you need to invite them, make sure someone is on standby to help control the situations. Nevertheless, have people help you attend to the guests, while you focus on making the wedding a success.
