Funky Wedding Invitations – Wedding Invites With Some Spunk

February 25th, 2010 Elaine Posted in Wedding Ideas, Wedding Invitations Ideas, Wedding Theme and Style No Comments »

It’s one thing to say that you want a traditional wedding invite, but another to want for something funky. Funky wedding invitations are invitations that are not what you would normally expect. They can look anything from modern to absolutely unconventional.

The great thing about funky wedding invitations is the fact that they are unique. You don’t get to see the same designs and color schemes often. They can be bold in terms of color and style, nonetheless they can be a refreshing change to the usual format.

A wedding invite that features leopard prints is a good choice for people who are not afraid to do or think outside the box. They don’t have a care in the world if others are scandalized by the design. The leopard print makes a rather bold statement, one that guests are not going to easily forget.
If you want to create a cheerful mood, try wedding invitations that feature stripes in varying colors or those with unusual color combinations such as deep purple and lemon yellow, mint green and cherry red, neon orange and hot pink.
Damask-themed wedding invitations make use of bold classical patterns in black, white and red. The designs are often striking and powerful.
You may also want to go for styles that make use of vector patterns or illustrations. The designs can be customized to suit your color theme or personal preferences. These wedding invites do not utilize the old printing techniques which basically require the use of plates; instead these designs are printed on modern digital presses.
Wedding invites like these are sure to create quite a buzz, but never mind. People will eventually get used to the idea that being bold and funky in your choice of wedding invites will not, in any way, make a mockery out of the wedding celebration.

February 11th, 2010 Elaine Posted in Wedding Ideas, Wedding Invitations Ideas, Wedding Planning No Comments »

A wedding is a once in a life-time event, to celebrate the union of two hearts, so who else to celebrate this joyous moment with if not with your friends, family and relatives. But there is also a limit to the amount of people one can invite because of the space and costs involve. So who is it that you should or should not send your wedding invitations to?

One of the few people that you should not invite is your ex, especially if you have unresolved issues with. Can you imagine how would your other half will feel if they were about to say “I do” and there’s the image of your ex reminding them of your unresolved past. It doesn’t matter if you are good friends with your ex but your soon-to-be spouse will feel unhappy with their presence.

Another person you should not invite is your drunkard of a good friend or relative who makes a whole lot of noise after having a few glasses of wine. Yes, there’s that obligation that you should invite your close relatives and good friends but are you sure you want to invite someone who gets rowdy after ingesting alcohol? Not a good idea unless you want fights breaking out during your wedding.

Last but not least, another type of person that you should not invite is your estranged relative. It has been a whole lot of years since you have last seen this person, but yet the reason of weddings being family affairs is making you debate with yourself. It pretty much boils down to what type of wedding you are having, whether it is an intimate one with only your closest friends and relatives, or is it going to be a huge event where you invite everyone you know. And if it doesn’t bother you to invite someone who is pretty much a stranger to you by now, by all means do.

Make Your Wedding Invitations Memorable

February 5th, 2010 Elaine Posted in Wedding Ideas, Wedding Invitations Ideas, Wedding Theme and Style No Comments »

There are varied choices of wedding invitations now than ever before. In the past, options are limited to two-folded or z-folded cards using classic and elegant designs and font styles, but nowadays, you are limited only by your own creativity.

Photo wedding invitations were practically unheard of many years ago, as technology did not yet allow a way for photos to be incorporated in the invites. Now that they can be included in the invite, you can choose to have your photos serve as background or watermark, in which case the wordings may be printed over the picture itself. If you choose to have your photos in full, solid color, however, consider having the wordings printed on a separate panel.

Wedding invitations that feature caricatures or drawings of a church or wedding bells are gaining popularity, too. There are pre-printed invitations like these available in many wedding stores, but you can always customize the design with a few embellishments for a more unique approach.

Wedding invitations do not necessarily have to come in paper form. If you are having a beach wedding, for instance, print the wedding details on a piece of paper, and attach it to a seashell or a slipper. You can also send out wedding invites in the form of CDs with your choice of love songs. Ask a professional to print the details of your wedding on the face of the CD, and then neatly tie a ribbon around the CD case. Another fun idea is to have the wedding details written on the inside cover of a box of chocolates. Now, wouldn’t that be sweet? What’s great about this type of invitation is that it already transforms into a wedding souvenir.

Notwithstanding the style, design, or make of your wedding invitation, see to it that it contains all the essential details, such as the names of the couple, the date and time of the event, and the venue.

There are many concepts for wedding invitations ranging from the most traditional and classic all the way to unique and alternative designs. The choice primarily depends on the personalities and preference of the groom and bride, wedding theme and the colour motif. However, regardless of how your wedding invitation looks like, there are several important pointers that you have to keep in mind when preparing them. You have to pay particular attention to the details that you have to write.

First thing that you have to put in your wedding invites are the complete names of the groom and bride followed by the date, time and venue of the wedding. If you want to make your wedding invitations very formal and for ethical purposes as well, you should write the date and time in words instead of numbers and without abbreviations. Write the name of the officiating priest, pastor or judge who will do the wedding rites or ceremony.

Indicate where the wedding reception will follow including the time. Mention your preferred dress code for your guests (example; strictly formal, semi-formal, beach attire etc.) or if you want to follow a particular motif or theme. It would also be helpful to include small maps that will serve as the direction to your wedding venue and reception. This will be beneficial to your guests.

If you are planning to include the names of your entourage on your wedding invites, be sure to write their full names (example; best man and maid of honour, bride’s maid). Do not use their nicknames to address them. Lastly, write the full names of the person or persons to whom the invitation is for. Avoid misspelling the names to maintain formality and proper etiquette. Lastly, address the persons properly (example; Attorney, Doctor, His Excellency, Mr. and Mrs. Honourable etc.)

Finally, on the bottom part, indicate the RSVP.

Besides the conventional invitations that people are accustomed to which are made from specialty papers sealed in scented envelopes, there are many other wonderful concepts that you can keep in mind.

For example, if you are planning on having a beach wedding, you can go for a message-in-a-bottle type of invitation wherein the wedding details are written in a piece of paper, rolled and then put inside a bottle filled with sea shells and sand. Another concept is scroll-type invitation which can be done with the use of parchment paper and light wood or metal for a royal and fairytale touch. If you would rather have traditional wedding invites, you can still add a touch of creativity to make them more unique. You can make use of recycled paper or other special kinds of papers and decorate them with fancy ribbons and ties. For more unique concepts, you can add something that represents the theme of your wedding.

Other concepts that are also creative and unique include the use of hand-made native materials, ethnic details or collage-type invites with pictures (or even caricatures) of the groom and bride. Thinking about the little details is more daunting than looking for the perfect venue or guests for your wedding. That is why many women are having a difficult time selecting the invitations. Not only that you have to keep your motif in mind but you should also consider the fact that this will be your guest’s first impression for this occasion.

There are now hundreds of pre-made invitations for various events including wedding. This is an ideal option for those who are in a tight budget or those who just do not want to be that creative. Although this is cheaper compared to the personalized or customized invitations, it could save you a lot of time since all you have to do is to fill the blanks with the right details about the marriage ceremony.

On the other, when choosing wedding invitations that are personalized, there are so many things that the bride-to-be considers. But everything would depend on the motif of their choice.

The color of the paper and the quality is important. It must be thick enough to prevent it from tearing easily. Women usually pick light-colored papers so they can have dark font shades for easy reading.

By the time that the bride-to-be has already thought of the verses for the card, it is now time to think of the designs when choosing wedding invitations. If you will host the event during the summer, then sunflower and rose are very common but classic. But they usually have wider choices for spring themed invitation cards. However, for those who want to get away from the conventional formality, a picture or two of the future Mr. and Mrs. can be included in the wedding invitation at the same time. Your guests would actually appreciate this kind of wedding invitation even more since it is personalized and eye-catching as well.
